Arsenal End 22-Year Title Drought as Manchester City Slip at Bournemouth.

In a historic night for North London, Arsenal have been crowned Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years, ending Manchester City’s recent stranglehold on the trophy.

Mikel Arteta’s side secured the unlikeliest of title victories on Tuesday evening without even kicking a ball. The Gunners’ long-awaited triumph was confirmed after second-placed Manchester City could only manage a 1-1 draw against a resilient Bournemouth side at the Vitality Stadium.

The result brings an end to Arsenal’s agonizing run of three consecutive second-place finishes. For the first time since the legendary 'Invincibles' side of 2003/04, the Premier League trophy is heading back to the Emirates Stadium.

A Bumpy Road to Glory

While Arsenal have topped the table for the majority of the 2025/26 campaign, their bid for glory appeared to be on the verge of collapse just last month. A tense 2-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium in April seemed to hand the initiative firmly back to Pep Guardiola’s chasing Cityzens.

However, unlike in previous seasons where they faltered under pressure, Arteta’s young squad displayed a newfound resilience. They rallied from that setback, winning their remaining fixtures while anxiously waiting for City to slip—a slip that finally came on the south coast on Tuesday night.

Arteta’s Second Major Honour

The title victory ends a six-year trophy drought for the club and marks a significant milestone for manager Mikel Arteta. Having already lifted the FA Cup early in his tenure, this Premier League crown represents his second major honour as a manager.

The Spaniard, a former club captain, has now achieved what seemed impossible when he took over a fractured squad in 2019: returning Arsenal to the summit of English football.

Trophy Lift and European Dreams

The official trophy lift will take place on Sunday at Selhurst Park, the home of Crystal Palace, where Arsenal will celebrate in front of their away supporters.

But the silverware may not stop there. Riding the wave of this league success, Arsenal are still bidding to win the UEFA Champions League for the first time in the club’s history, keeping their hopes of a historic double alive as the season enters its final week.
