How Vercel Started as a Side Project
Vercel, now widely used as a frontend deployment and web infrastructure platform, did not begin as a traditional startup with a formal business roadmap. It started as a small technical experiment focused on improving how developers build and deploy web applications.
The project was founded by software engineer Guillermo Rauch, who set out to solve a recurring problem in web development: the complexity and fragmentation involved in deploying applications. At the time, developers often relied on multiple tools, manual configurations, and inconsistent workflows to ship products to production.
