“We Keep Our Promises” Tinubu Opens N54 Billion Airport-Kuje Road, Vows More Development for Abuja’s Satellite Towns.

President Bola Tinubu officially opened the new Airport Expressway to Kuje Town in the Federal Capital Territory yesterday, promising that his government won’t stop investing in roads and infrastructure around Abuja’s satellite communities.

The six lane dual carriageway, built at a cost of over N54 billion, was commissioned by Vice President Kashim Shettima on Tinubu’s behalf. Speaking at the event, the President said this road isn’t just about concrete and asphalt it’s about keeping faith with Nigerians.

“Three years ago, we swore to serve you and to end the era of abandoned projects. This road proves we mean it,” Tinubu said.

He noted that although the project was first awarded back in 2022, very little was done before his administration stepped in. For years, the route was a source of frustration, endless traffic jams, and tough commutes. It had also become a hiding spot for criminals and kidnappers.

Now, the newly completed road is expected to cut travel time, open up the Kuje area, reduce congestion in the city center, boost property values, and make it easier for farmers to get their goods to market.

“Abuja cannot grow if only the city center thrives,” Tinubu added. “We are building the economy from the bottom up.”

The President gave special credit to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for pushing the project to completion, and to the contractor, Arab Contractors, for delivering quality work. He also urged residents to protect the road from vandals and to pay their taxes and ground rents so the government can fund even more projects.

In his remarks, Wike recalled how bad the road used to be a nightmare for residents and a haven for kidnappers. “Many people never believed it would be finished,” he said. “But today, we have a beautiful road.”

He also revealed that the Kuje Gwagwalada dual carriageway will be commissioned soon, as part of a broader push to develop satellite towns around Abuja.
