Nollywood Veteran Calls Out Gender Inequality After Controversial Wedding Video Goes Viral

Veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie is not holding back her anger this morning after a wedding video surfaced online showing what she calls blatant gender discrimination.

In the now.viral clip, a wedding MC put the bride, Mirabel, on the spot, asking her to vow never to cheat on her husband even if he traveled for extended periods. He went further, praying that she would face severe consequences if she ever broke that vow.

But when it was the groom, Thomas's turn, the MC took a completely different approach. He casually said that if the groom cheated, "may God forgive him" letting him off the hook with what many are calling a slap on the wrist.

Taking to Instagram, an visibly furious Edochie expressed her shock and disappointment, hoping the video was just a skit meant for entertainment.

"I am very angry this morning, and I pray this is just a joke and content," she wrote.

The veteran actress didn't mince words as she questioned why society so easily excuses men for infidelity while condemning women harshly for the exact same offense.

"If infidelity is a sin, then it is a sin for both. If forgiveness exists, then it should not be reserved for one gender," she declared.

Marriage Is a Two Way Street

Edochie emphasized that marriage vows are exchanged equally between couples and should therefore be upheld with the same standards. She insisted that accountability, mercy, and dignity should never depend on whether the offender is male or female.

Calling the double standard "partiality" and even "witchcraft," she warned that no healthy marriage can survive on a system where men are given understanding while women are expected to be perfect.
