Mali is under siege as coordinated attacks hit the capital and north as rebels attack. 

Mali is facing a serious attack right now. Gunmen launched multiple coordinated attacks in the early hours of Saturday 25th April, 2026. 

Targeting the main military base in Kati, where the country’s military leader lives, as well as prominent regions such as the airport 

It has been reported that there are two groups behind this attack. 

The Azawad Liberation Front, a group of Tuareg and Arab separatists wanting dominance in northern Mali 

Mali recently cut ties with France, and this has spawned a lot of tension across the country.

Early hours of the morning, rebels raided and raised their flag over a base in Kidal.

The report has it that a Malian military helicopter was taken down in the process. 

Countries like Nigeria, Burkina Faso, and Niger continue to keep their eyes on the roof over the current situation, as this is a possible threat… 

Attacks were launched affecting the 7th largest city, "Gao," which is located 300 km southeast of Timbuktu, sharing borders with these countries.
