Fan Jumps Court During NBA Finals to Grab a Selfie With Victor Wembanyama Now Banned for Life

In one of the strangest moments of this year’s NBA Finals, a fan ran onto the court mid-game just to take a selfie video with Victor Wembanyama. The bizarre interruption happened in the fourth quarter on Wednesday, with the New York Knicks leading the San Antonio Spurs 92–86.

As the Spurs moved the ball up the court, the fan sprinted past players, stopped right next to Wembanyama, and started recording himself with the young star. Security quickly tackled the situation two guards grabbed him and escorted him out within seconds. He didn’t seem to touch any players, and replays showed Wembanyama looking confused but smiling.

The NBA didn’t find it funny, though. A league spokesperson confirmed the fan was arrested and banned for life from every NBA arena. A second person involved also got a lifetime ban.

After the game, Wembanyama admitted he’d never experienced anything like it. “I didn’t know how to act,” he said, comparing it to the time a bat flew onto the court during a game in 2024. Spurs coach Mitch Johnson brushed it off, saying security handled it fast and everyone just moved on.

The game briefly paused, then resumed with a jump ball. The Knicks went on to win 105–95, extending their playoff win streak to 12 games only the seventh team in NBA history to do that.

Game 2 tips off Friday at 8:30 p.m. ET in San Antonio.
