Midnight Horror in Ondo: Gunmen Abduct 9-Year-Old Boy During Violent Attack on Community.

Residents of Ugbosi Quarters in Idogun, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, were thrown into fear and chaos after suspected gunmen stormed the community in a midnight raid and abducted a nine-year-old boy, Olaosebikan Victor.

The terrifying attack, which occurred around 1:30 a.m., reportedly sent residents scrambling for safety as the armed assailants fired sporadically into the air, creating panic across the quiet community.

According to reports, the gunmen invaded the residence of one Olaosebikan Isaac, forcefully breaking into the house in search of their target. Fearing for his life amid the heavy gunfire and confusion, Isaac reportedly escaped into a nearby bush, leaving behind his young son, Victor, who was subsequently whisked away by the attackers.

The incident has left the community in shock, with residents lamenting the growing insecurity and fear of recurring attacks in the area.

Sources disclosed that the armed men also attempted to force their way into another residence belonging to Joel Owalekan. During the operation, the suspects reportedly vandalised parts of the building while trying to gain entry. Owalekan, however, managed to escape unharmed.

The attack was later reported to security authorities by residents, including Olaosebikan Isaac and Joel Owalekan, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement agencies.

Reacting to the incident, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, confirmed the abduction and said security operatives had launched an intensive manhunt for the perpetrators.

According to Abayomi, the Divisional Police Officer in the area, alongside officers of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, swiftly mobilised to the community and commenced a coordinated search-and-rescue operation.

He explained that security operatives combed nearby forests, bushes and suspected escape routes in a desperate effort to rescue the abducted child unharmed and arrest those responsible for the attack.

Abayomi added that investigations into the incident had already commenced, while relevant exhibits were recovered from the scene to aid ongoing efforts.

“All tactical teams, intelligence units and other relevant security assets have been directed to intensify efforts toward the immediate rescue of the victim unharmed and the arrest of the perpetrators,” the police spokesperson stated.

He further assured residents that the police command was working closely with other security agencies, local vigilante groups and community leaders to ensure the abductors are tracked down and brought to justice.

The police spokesperson also appealed to residents to remain calm but vigilant, urging members of the public to support security agencies with credible and timely information that could lead to the rescue of the child.

“Anyone with credible and actionable information relating to the abducted child or the suspects is encouraged to report promptly to the nearest police station or any security agency,” he added.

As security operations continue, tension remains high in the community, with residents anxiously hoping for the safe return of the abducted boy.
