"Justice on the Fast Track: Nigeria Nabs 150 Terror Convictions in Just 48 Hours"
In a whirlwind of judicial activity, Nigeria has secured a staggering 150 convictions against terrorism suspects in just two days. The nation’s chief law officer, Attorney General Lateef Fagbemi, announced the milestone, revealing that the special mass trials, which kicked off on Monday, are pushing through hundreds of cases with remarkable speed.
But that wasn’t the only victory making headlines. President Bola Tinubu is personally celebrating the military’s success in taking down one of the country’s most wanted criminals.
A Notorious Kingpin Meets His End:
The President commended the armed forces for a daring operation in Kogi State that resulted in the elimination of Ibrahim Bastuji, a feared bandit leader responsible for a reign of terror, including school attacks and mass kidnappings. Tinubu’s message was clear: "Nigeria will not surrender any part of its territory to criminals."
The good news didn't stop there. In a separate, equally heroic mission, troops successfully rescued the widow of the late former Chief of Defence Information, demonstrating a level of professionalism that has earned high praise from the Presidency.
A Nation Under Siege... Fighting Back:
While the legal and military victories are significant, the battle continues. The same week saw tragedy strike in Plateau State, where suspected gunmen attacked the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), killing three security operatives.
However, the security forces are hitting back hard on all fronts. In Sokoto State, troops of Operation Fansan Yamma rescued seven farmers who had been kidnapped by bandits, recovering motorcycles and equipment used by the assailants.
With trials expected to wrap up soon and the military maintaining the pressure on criminal networks, the government is sending a clear signal that it is moving decisively to restore order.
