"We Will Bring Them Home": FG Promises Safe Return of Kidnapped School Children.

After a wave of school abductions that have left parents sleepless and communities on edge, the Federal Government broke its silence yesterday with a firm promise: every kidnapped child and teacher will come back alive.

At an emergency security briefing in Abuja, the government admitted the situation is troubling but insisted they are closing in on the criminals.

"We will not rest until every child is back home," said Information Minister Mohammed Idris. "No Nigerian child belongs in captivity."

The latest attacks in Oyo and Borno states where armed groups raided schools and dragged dozens of children into forests have reignited nationwide fear. But security chiefs who spoke at the briefing said the kidnappings are not a sign of weakness. Instead, they argued, it shows terrorists are being squeezed so hard they're fleeing to new areas.

"We've destroyed their camps, their fuel dumps, their hideouts," said Brigadier General Samaila Uba. "Now they're running and we're chasing."

The government revealed several concrete steps:

· 1,000 forest guards will be recruited to patrol high-risk zones

· Specialized rescue teams have been deployed

· Aerial surveillance is sweeping forest corridors

· Multiple agencies military, DSS, police, intelligence are working as one

But officials also pleaded for patience. A top security lawyer, Zakari Mijinyawa, explained why rescue operations take time: "Our goal is not to impress anyone. Our goal is to bring victims home alive. If we rush, children could die."

The message to Nigerians was clear: stay vigilant, share intelligence, and don't spread panic or misinformation that helps the kidnappers.

"We have everything it takes to crush them," the General added. "Anyone who picks up a weapon against Nigeria will be tracked and neutralized."

For now, families wait. But the government's promise is unwavering: No child will be left behind.
