Nollywood Actress Turned Politician, Doris Ogala, Breaks Down in Tears as She Visits Traders Who Lost Their Shops to Alleged Demolition by Abia Deputy Governor.

It seems Doris Ogala has moved on from the gossip pages and is now fully stepping into her new role as a governorship candidate in Abia State. Last weekend, the Nollywood actress emerged as the flagbearer of the African Action Congress (AAC), and she’s already getting her hands dirty.

Over the weekend, she visited a group of shop owners in the Afara area of Umuahia who say they were thrown out unfairly. Their crime? A piece of land that the Deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Emetu, reportedly bought. According to them, their shops were bulldozed without any warning.

Doris didn’t hold back. She broke down in tears while hugging a widow who lost her shop. Then she turned to the crowd and said, “Let me tell you something. The power is in your hands. That’s why I’m coming out to liberate Abia State. My people are suffering.”

She accused the deputy governor of using his position to trample on the poor. “A deputy governor demolishes people’s shops because he acquired property? I am disappointed. This is what AAC stands against. We stand for the oppressed.”

She also fired back at anyone thinking her visit was political mischief, saying, “Just because I’m running for governor, they demolish a place near my house? Enough is enough.”

To prove she meant business, Doris gave N200,000 to each of the affected traders to help them get new shops.

But the Deputy Governor’s office has denied everything. His spokesperson said Mr. Emetu had nothing to do with the demolitions. According to them, it was the Umuahia Capital Development Authority (UCDA) doing its normal urban planning work. They called the accusations “false, misleading, and designed to cause tension.”

Still, Doris isn’t backing down. She says the Abia she sees on social media is not the real Abia and she’s determined to change that.
