WAWU Africa to Offer ₦250,000 Grants to 20 Nigerian Entrepreneurs in June 2026 But There’s a Catch.

Abuja, Nigeria – WAWU Africa has unveiled a new startup support initiative set to provide ₦250,000 grants to 20 Nigerian entrepreneurs in June 2026. The move is part of the organization’s broader strategy to strengthen small businesses and drive entrepreneurship across the country.

The program, however, is not a simple cash giveaway. According to WAWU Africa, it targets Nigerians who are genuinely committed to building sustainable enterprises but applicants must first undergo a structured learning process before becoming eligible for funding.

To qualify for the grant, candidates must:

· Complete a Diploma Training in Business or Entrepreneurship via the WAWU Africa and Alison learning platform.

· Obtain a certification upon finishing the course.

· Own a registered business.

· Submit a detailed business plan.

· Join the organization’s WhatsApp community.

· Maintain an account with one of the program’s partner banks.

WAWU Africa emphasized the initiative is neither political nor based on personal connections. Instead, selection will focus on preparation, business readiness, and the applicant's willingness to build a viable, impact-driven business.

“This is not about connections or politics. It is about preparation, learning, vision, and readiness to build,” the organization stated.

The application portal is scheduled to open on May 30, 2026, giving interested entrepreneurs time to complete the required training, obtain their certificates, and prepare their business documents.

The grant initiative forms part of WAWU Africa’s larger vision: “Building Africa’s Largest Skilled Workforce.” The organization has urged interested Nigerians to begin their training immediately rather than waiting for the portal to open.
