“A Real Boost for Schools: Ogun State Makes 1,000 More Teachers Permanent Staff, Celebrates Tech Savvy Educators”
It’s been a good week for teachers in Ogun State. The government just handed permanent employment letters to another 1,000 teachers under its OgunTEACh program. That brings the total number of intern teachers who have now gotten confirmed appointments to 5,000 out of the 6,000 recently recruited under Governor Dapo Abiodun’s watch.
At the ceremony in Abeokuta, the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, reminded everyone that before this administration, teacher recruitment had been frozen for about eight long years. He gave credit to the governor for caring deeply about education and for always saying “yes” to proposals that help schools, teachers, and students.
Importantly, the government also made sure that people with disabilities were included in the hiring process for primary schools, secondary schools, and technical colleges so no one is left behind.
The Chairman of the state’s teaching commission, Apostle Abiodun Sanyaolu, didn’t just talk about employment. He also took time to praise teachers for jumping on board with digital tools, especially the new OgunLEARN platform. According to him, teachers showed real creativity, adaptability, and skill during a recent competition proving they can compete with anyone when it comes to using modern tech in the classroom.
That AI-powered platform, OgunLEARN, is designed to help teachers prepare lessons more easily, teach better, and assess students more effectively. The chairman said it’s exactly the kind of innovation Governor Abiodun wants to see.
The newly confirmed teachers some of whom spoke on behalf of the group, like Oladipo Michael and Ayinla Temitope were full of gratitude. They promised to give their best and be good ambassadors of the state wherever they’re posted.
At the end of the day, the message from Ogun State was clear: they’re not just hiring more teachers; they’re betting on teachers who are ready to embrace the digital age.
