Air Force Pounds Terrorist Hideouts in Borno, Destroys Key Logistics Hub.
In a major crackdown on insurgent strongholds, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out a series of precision airstrikes targeting terrorist hideouts and logistics facilities in Biramiri, located within the Gezuwa general area of Borno State. The operation, which took place recently, was part of the ongoing counter terrorism efforts in Nigeria’s troubled Northeast region.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the airstrikes were not random. They were, in fact, the result of painstaking intelligence gathering, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions that pinpointed the exact locations of the insurgents’ operational hubs.
Ejodame explained that the coordinated strikes, carried out with remarkable accuracy, successfully destroyed key terrorist facilities and eliminated several fighters who were active in the area. “The coordinated attacks destroyed key terrorist facilities and neutralised several fighters, further crippling the operational capacity of the insurgents,” he said.
The Air Commodore also noted that the sustained aerial campaign has been sowing fear and confusion among terrorist elements, especially along the Sambisa Forest axis a known hideout for insurgent groups. Intelligence assessments, he added, reveal growing anxiety and disarray within the ranks of the militants, as the relentless bombardment continues to deny them freedom of movement and any semblance of safe haven.
Reaffirming the military’s resolve, Ejodame stated that the Nigerian Air Force, working in close coordination with ground troops of Operation Hadin Kai and other security agencies, remains unwavering in its mission to keep up the pressure on terrorist networks. He reiterated the military’s commitment to protecting innocent civilians and restoring lasting peace and security across the Northeast region.
