Atiku and ADC Demand Tinubu Withdraw from 2027 Race Amid Agency Leadership Chaos.

Opposition leaders say president's inability to enforce his own appointments shows administration is out of control.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have launched a fierce attack on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to abandon his 2027 re-election plans.

The criticism stems from a messy leadership dispute at the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA), where a man the president officially replaced weeks ago is still showing up to work as if nothing happened.

Here's what's going on:

President Tinubu announced he was replacing BCDA Director General Dakorinama Alabo George with former lawmaker Abdulrazak Sa'ad Namdas. But weeks later, George is still listed as the agency's boss on its website, still attending official meetings, and still acting like he's in charge. Some reports suggest FCT Minister Nyesom Wike is backing George.

Atiku called this "a serious embarrassment" that makes Nigeria look incompetent to investors and the international community.

"How does a president publicly appoint a new head of a federal agency, yet weeks later the person said to have been replaced remains in office?" Atiku asked in a statement.

The ADC went even further, suggesting the situation raises "disturbing" questions about who's really running the country. They pointed to other controversies, including a "phantom" presidential council that apparently didn't legally exist but was operating at high government levels anyway.

The party said this pattern of policy reversals and appointment confusion suggests "unelected individuals may have hijacked the president's constitutional powers."

Their message to Tinubu: If you can't control your own government, you should resign or at least step aside from the 2027 race.

The presidency hasn't responded to these latest criticisms yet.
