Ekiti Governor Oyebanji Urges Peace as Governorship Election Approaches.

Calls on political parties, observers, and security agencies to maintain professionalism.

With just days to go before Saturday's governorship election in Ekiti State, Governor Biodun Oyebanji has made a passionate appeal to all parties involved to ensure the process remains peaceful from start to finish.

In a statewide broadcast delivered Wednesday evening, the governor, who is seeking re-election under the All Progressives Congress (APC), emphasized that Ekiti has enjoyed an unprecedented era of peaceful elections under his leadership. He urged everyone to keep it that way.

"The current political electioneering has been the most peaceful in the history of our State," Oyebanji noted, stressing the importance of maintaining that calm through election day and beyond.

The governor specifically called on political parties, election observers, and security agencies to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, decorum, and fairness throughout the process.

A Record of Service:

Reflecting on his tenure since taking office on October 16, 2022, Oyebanji expressed deep gratitude to the people of Ekiti for their trust and support over the past four years. He described his service as a "sacred trust" he does not take for granted.

The governor used the opportunity to ask voters for what he termed a "renewal of the Shared Prosperity Mandate" the same mandate given to him four years ago. He promised that if re-elected, his administration would accelerate development and take the state's socioeconomic plans to greater heights.

"With another four years of your mandate, we will be able to complete all ongoing projects, entrench policy initiatives, pursue new vision, and open new frontiers of development," he said, referencing the state's 30-year Development Plan.

Oyebanji highlighted that his administration has fulfilled its electoral promises under the six pillar development agenda, resulting in improved service delivery and orderly governance across various sectors.

Acknowledging Support:

The governor praised the impressive turnout at his campaign rallies, where he received overwhelming support from individual voters, interest groups, associations, and communities.

He also acknowledged the high powered APC delegation that attended Tuesday's final mega rally, including President Bola Tinubu (represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima) and the National Chairman, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda.

Oyebanji thanked President Tinubu for his invaluable support at both political and inter-governmental levels, as well as the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her affection toward Ekiti State. He also expressed appreciation to Vice President Shettima for leading the grand campaign and visiting the state twice within a week.

The governor extended his gratitude to traditional rulers, religious leaders, workers, artisans, market men and women, and various interest groups who have remained supportive of his administration.
