“I jumped from APC to NDC and landed in hellfire” – Ex-lawmaker’s painful regret.

A former member of the House of Representatives, Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma, is full of regret after dumping the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the opposition Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

In a candid interview on Arise Television on Friday, Agbonayinma said he joined the NDC thinking it would be the fresh hope that would rescue Nigeria. Instead, he ended up more frustrated than he was in the APC.

“I had thought NDC was the messiah to redefine and rescue Nigeria. I didn’t know it was leaving the frying pan, and now it ended up in hellfire,” he lamented.

The former Edo South senatorial aspirant accused the NDC of conducting a flawed primary election. According to him, the party ignored its own rules and pressured aspirants to step down for one another.

“They kept us in a room with other contestants for us to step down for one another, and we couldn’t do that,” he said.

Agbonayinma claims he actually won the primary held on May 29, but the results have still not been announced. He also alleged that a returning officer was caught trying to alter the results.

“Where people were asked to go to the primary, I won that primary, and since May 29, the election has not been announced. An election where a returning officer was caught changing results,” he added.

The former lawmaker reserved special bitterness for former Bayelsa governor and NDC national leader, Seriake Dickson. Agbonayinma said Dickson was an old friend who personally encouraged him to buy the NDC nomination form and run for Senate, only to later deny ever saying so.

“The same man who asked me to go and buy the form; this morning we had a meeting, and he said he never said so,” Agbonayinma revealed.

“I’m weeping and regretting,” he said.

For its part, the NDC has maintained that its candidates emerged through proper consultations, consensus, and grassroots primaries, and has asked aggrieved members to use the party’s appeal process.
