Overcoming Timidity: The Journey so far.

0:00 0:00

I’ve always wondered how bold and outspoken certain people are, was it that they were born this way or did they go through some life changing process.

I admire the audaciousness to question happenings around them, to speak up even if things can be compromised, their lack of fear to get into trouble, their mind free and adventurous.

It’s something magnificent, though I fear for them, and see my ability of becoming like them a mere imagination.

Deep down, I admire the courage they possess to face the crowd, to address multitude, to raise their heads high even better than I who wore an impressive outfit. I admire their optimism and ask if I could ever be positive, even if it’s about a single day in my life.

To me I believed there were no bad days for those kinds of people that they woke up on beds of roses and everything goes their way.

News flash, it’s not until now that I’m discovering that everything has always boiled down to the mind-set, it was they who created the kind of life and person they wanted even if life did not give it to them.

Hey, being shy or timid doesn’t make one less of a person, in fact, it’s the ones tagged timid, and that if given wings would soar so high and explore the world.

I’m still coming off my shells of shyness, I’m still discovering other parts of me, but how would I have gotten to this stage if I did not take a feet out of the shell.

Trust me, taking out that one foot was a lot, it took a lot of efforts.

I had been enrolled into the university, and in my two weeks of living with my roommates, I barely spoke a word to them, only greetings and asking for direction, I’m being to forward, back in high school I hardly spoke a word to my classmates, and I was confronted once that I was being arrogant, shyness would be misunderstood for pride.

I believe you should have had that experience once or more, people will read it off as something else while deep in your mind, there is a silent battle on what to say, how to organize your words, how not to sound weird or crazy, there’s just a war even you can’t help but outside you’re read off.

It’s like a loop, then you keep asking how do you break off this shell, you’re smart, you’re creative, you’ve got what you want to share with the world but you don’t want to seem to showy, there are ideas brilliant ones running through your head wanting to burst out, but no, they rather stick with you, coz if you open your mouth, the words become too heavy to flow out, how do you break off?

You remember you used to be a lot bolder when you were young or even if you feel you’ve never been, what happened, why you are built like this, why are you scared of interactions, to socialize, why do you lock up yourself and your ideas from the world.

Let’s get to a point where we fight this, deep down, you don’t want to remain like this, you want the world to see that there is a lot you have to offer, you want to be bold, you want to be able to speak up and address the class in a presentation or science fair project, the office on your innovation or contribute to a project, to teach or share your story with the multitude without stuttering, without fear, there’s a lot you want to do, but how do you break off?, how can you at least put your leg out of the shell.

Trust me shyness is not a curse, it’s part of a humans personality, it comes with temperament, it’s very human to be shy, it doesn’t make you a weirdo or less of person, you are still amazing.

You just need to trust yourself and know your worth, I told you earlier that I’m still crawling out of my shell and still discovering, and that everything went down to mind set.

If you’re wondering if it’s ever possible for you to be bold, confident and able to share your light with the world?, the answer is yes, it’s not an imagination, it’s very possible.

You really want to step that leg out of the shell, its starts with;

Building a concrete image of yourself; you have to know yourself, identify your strengths, build on them and create an unwavering image of yourself , speak to your person and tell yourself all it’s worth, be your number one fan, appreciate yourself and acknowledge all you’ve ever achieved and been through. Calm down and organize your mind, tell yourself that the world is waiting for you to turn on your light.

Daily self-affirmations; Every day when you wake up tell yourself that you are beautifully and wonderfully made, that you have a purpose to fulfil, and you’re loved and seen by your creator.

Dress with confidence; put on outfits that suits your person, the one you’re comfortable with, the one that generates aura of its own once you’re in it, I’ve come to learn that outfits, especially the ones you’re cool with, are confidence boosters.

The walk of confidence; like I said, it all comes from within, when you walk, walk with your chin up, own your ground, as long as you have a solid image of who you are, don’t let anything or anyone talk you down, stand your ground when it calls for it, coz you’re the owner of your words.

The last one may seem like a lot, I know, coz I’ve been there, especially if you’re being bullied or looked down on, but can I tell you the truth, bullies get terrified when they find out that you’ve got the guts to stand up to them, so I tell you, be audacious.

Everything I’ve listed out is possible, its reality, its workable, but like I said, it comes from within, you’ve got to have a heart-to-heart talk with yourself, build a concrete mind set of who you are and be determined, make that effort to step your leg, even if it’s a single one out of that shell, whenever you feel discouraged, take a deep breath and reaffirm yourself of who you are, it’s a journey, it has a destination.

And remember the world needs to see you!!!
