In a major boost for Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI), the lawmaker representing Afikpo and Edda Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Idu Igariwe, has followed through on a pledge made last December donating a building valued at ₦1 billion to the institution.

The announcement came during a courtesy visit to the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Daniel Nwachukwu, at the 1st Hybrid International Conference of the Faculty of Management Sciences, held on Wednesday at the Senate Chamber.

Igariwe, who also chairs the House Committee on Appropriation, confirmed that the project has already been captured in the 2026 Appropriation Act, with construction set to begin shortly. The donation fulfills a commitment he made back in December 2025 when the university’s management paid him a Christmas visit.

Speaking through his representative, Prof. Arua Oko Omaka, the lawmaker praised Prof. Nwachukwu for his energetic leadership and dedication to turning the university into a true hub of academic excellence, adding that the Vice-Chancellor has truly been "hitting the ground running" since assuming office.

In his response, an appreciative Vice-Chancellor thanked the lawmaker for his generosity and assured him of continued collaboration with political leaders to fast track infrastructure development on campus. He also reiterated his administration's unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and fairness, expressing confidence that under his watch, AE-FUNAI will continue to scale greater heights.
