We Deserve More Than Just Roads PDP Candidate Takes Aim at Abia Governor Alex Otti.
Abia State’s PDP governorship candidate, Kelechi Anosike, says the state is getting far less than it should, given the amount of money now flowing into government coffers.
In a chat with journalists in Abuja on Friday, Anosike argued that Governor Alex Otti has done okay only when it comes to roads. Beyond that, he claimed, other sectors like health and education are practically neglected.
“Otti has performed relatively well on roads, but that’s about it. With the kind of revenue states are getting now, anyone in that seat would have done better. He just has more money to spend. But Abia deserves more,” Anosike said.
He pointed to a controversial N84 billion smart schools project, saying not a single one has been completed. “What’s happening in health? Zero. Education? Zero.”
Anosike, who is gearing up to challenge Otti in the 2027 election, promised that if elected, his government would prioritise people over projects. He also pledged a minimum wage of ₦90,000, with regular reviews to match economic realities.
“We believe Abians are being shortchanged. We are in this race to change that,” he added.
Governor Otti, who took office in May 2023 under the Labour Party, is expected to seek re-election in 2027.
