Beyond the Stadium: The Ultimate 2026 FIFA Fans’ Guide

0:00 0:00

Your one-stop write-up for food, safety and a memorable stay after the 90 minutes match.

This year’s Federation International Football Association (FIFA) games is one of a kind as it is co-hosted across three nations, Canada, Mexico and the United States.

A very interesting one I must say as all three countries cut across one continent- North America.

Today’s matches (Sunday) are set to take place, in Atlanta Stadium, Spain vs Saudi Arabia.

Los Angeles Stadium - Belgium vs Iran and Miami Stadium - Uruguay vs Cape Verde all in the USA.

The fourth match New Zealand vs Egypt in BC place, Vancouver, Canada. Interesting places I must say.

The primary, not official, language, coz there are over 400 languages spoken in both countries is English, followed by Spanish.

So if you’re fluent in the English language or Spanish, you have no problem, and even if you’re not fluent, there’s also no problem I’ll be helping you with Basic English and Spanish phrases that will help you blend in over there.

The US and Canada are beautiful places and I believe having these short interesting basic knowledge will be of help to you.

Okay, let me begin with Canada, the second largest country in the world, and the largest producers of maple syrup in the world, so if you’re a huge fan, you can make your bulk purchase there.

The US has the biggest library in the world, book lovers would find this interesting and in some places you may find more cows than people, weird right?.

America and Canada are free places, you have the liberty to be yourself, and there are no strict dress codes, however, since you’ll most likely be at the match, here are outfit ideas for you.

First and foremost, Jersey, for both genders, especially if there’s a country you’re supporting; putting on the jersey is a strong sign of solidarity.

Also, put on comfy bottoms like shorts, jorts, joggers or a baggy jean to match creating comfort and style.

Like the title says, we’ll be going “beyond the stadium”, to see beyond just the 90 mins of excitement, to explore, therefore, you’ll also need your

  • Jackets for cold
  • T-shirts for comfort
  • Cans or sneakers for hiking, and a decent dress(female) and corporate wear( male) for dinner probably.

Normally, the US dollars is a popular currency and almost accepted anywhere in the world, so it wouldn’t be a problem getting a few cash for use since you’re in the US, and for Canada, your Canadian dollars has got you covered, mind you, cards are still very much accepted.

Speaking of currencies, you’re human and you’d obviously find time to settle your belly, here are nice dishes and snacks to try especially if you’re on a budget, whether in a restaurant, mart or street food joint.

Let’s start with the different earlier mentioned stadiums in America.

  • For Georgia, you could grab a meal at Waffle House and Local Downtown Delis, nice places for good food going for a few bucks.
  • In Los Angeles, In-N-Out Burger for fresh burger, fries and drinks or Taco Trucks for delicious street tacos.
  • Miami, the last venue in America, there’s Cuban Bakeries for pastries and sandwiches, and Pollo Tropical for nice-budget fried chicken, rice and beans.

Moving over to Canada, there’s Banh Mi shop for baguettes and Pizza by Slice, a late night pizza parlour offering delicious pizzas at a budget.

Trust me, with these, there’s no way you wouldn’t keep your stomach happy.

Now, let’s actually go away from the cheering and excitements of the 11 players head-to-head field battle. Beyond the stadium, let’s explore amazing and serene landscapes to visit in the US and Canada.

Permit me to begin with the US once again, I’ll be giving you top- three budget friendly get-aways to visit, far from the noise of the football pitch, somewhere to chill off after the fun and games.

Starting off with;

  • The Grand Teton National park, known for its snow-capped peaks reflecting over alpine waters, for spotting moose and bears. Less crowded, and perfect for pictures and video creation.

Next up, Crater Lake National Park, formed inside a collapsed volcano from decades ago, this lake stands to be the deepest in the US, the deep blue waters creates a majestic and tranquil scenery.

Red woods Park, walking just beneath the tallest trees on this planet, creates a humbling silence.

Tip: If you plan to visit these three places within a short period, it is advisable to buy the America the Beautiful pass for 80 dollars; it pays for itself after visits to three national parks.

Moving over to Canada,

The Yoho National Park, which derives its name from an expression of surprise, is known for its emerald lake and waterfalls, absolutely peaceful.

Next is Nova Scotia, a world famous trail taking you along highlands that plunge directly into the Atlantic, filled with peaceful whale watching lookouts and quiet fishing villages.

Lastly is the Red-berry lake, the salt lake is a hidden gem missed by lots of tourists, offering profound silence and calm waters.

I know I said these countries are free places, and you may be visiting them for the first time, you need a guide on how to conduct yourself and stay safe whilst having your vacation or visit.

  • Public transports are highly recommended for you to easily navigate your way around.
  • Use basic English phrases like; Hi, Hello, Thank you, Please and Good day in conversations. For Spanish Hola- hi, Adios- bye, Gracias – Thank you, Por favor – please in conversations.
  • Beware of pickpockets, especially while in public places.
  • Tip appropriately, between 15-20% both for restaurants and Taxis.
  • Do well to pack warm clothing’s, Sunglasses, Sunscreens and chargers.
  • Respect local laws and avoid leaving valuables visible.
  • Avoid traveling without medical insurance.
  • If you plan to visit those get-away, do well to keep safe distance, make noise and carry bear spray for bears.

I wish you an enjoyable stay-cati

on, and may the best man win.

Adios!!!
