Kalu Praises Sokoto Governor's Infrastructure Drive as He Commissions 10 New Roads.
Former Abia State Governor Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has thrown his weight behind Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu's development efforts, commissioning a network of ten roads in the Arkilla New Layout area of Wamakko Local Council.
Kalu, who was invited as special guest for the occasion, didn't hold back his admiration for what he called the "rapid development" taking place across the state. "Roads are everything," he declared during the commissioning ceremony. "I commend the governor for investing heavily in road infrastructure."
The former governor, known for his straight talking style, even joked about the honour of being asked to commission ten projects at once - a task he noted would typically require ten different guests. But beyond the humour, his message was serious: unity and peace are non-negotiable for Nigeria's progress.
"I frown on attempts by some individuals to divide Nigeria," Kalu stated firmly, calling on citizens to play their part in achieving lasting stability.
Governor Aliyu, for his part, revealed that the newly commissioned roads came with a N3.5 billion price tag, describing them as part of a broader vision to modernise the state's infrastructure. Since taking office three years ago, his administration has awarded contracts for road networks in multiple areas, including Gawon Nama, Mabera, Gidan Igwai, and Tudun Wada.
"The development of road infrastructure remains a critical component of our urban renewal and economic development agenda," Aliyu explained. "We've prioritised this because roads fast-track economic and socio-economic development in our communities."
The Sultan of Sokoto, represented by the Baraden Wamakko, Ahmed Barade, added his voice to the chorus of praise, commending the governor's people-oriented approach to governance.
Local community representative Prof. Bello Bada expressed the gratitude of Arkilla New Layout residents, thanking the governor for finally bringing improved accessibility to their area.
