The Open Secret of Successful People
Psychology says people who who appear to be naturally successful often benefit from a combination of emotional regulation, self-confidence, supportive relationships, resilience and adaptability.
Yes, sometimes luck and opportunities may be their stepping stones, but before this opportunities show up, they must have presented themselves worthy and capable of giving something to the society.
A wise man once said the reward you get, whether monetary of in other forms, is in equal proportion to the contribution/ output you make to the society.
Psychology also supports that these people aren't just lucky, it's their minds devotion and consistency mode, that has given them an early advantage in life.
I call this an open secret because a lot of us have heard about what I'm about to say in different forms, from different places, from different speakers, it's not hidden, but where the secret lies, is in the application of this general knowledge.
We're all on a pathway to something, I guess, that's what we believe, though some are very sure they're on a pathway, others don't know they've trailed off, while others just wake up and go about their daily activities, not even aware that there's a path.
In a population of about 100 people, 99%, if not all would say they want to be successful, but if you ask them how they intend to go about it, you'd only find 1/4 of that population that has a strategy on how to achieve success.
See, why I put that word" Secret", coz many people know there's something called success, they like the sound of it, they've heard of people who achieve it, they've heard thier stories too, but don't know how to navigate their own way to this success they hear about.
Over to how to go about this success thing, achieving success is not easy at all even for things as trivial as preparing a meal for yourself, there's a process for it, if not, you'll mess up.
The first step is:
A solid decision:
You may be wondering why I'm bringing up decision making, in your mind you may say " if I didn't make up my mind, will I be doing this work, currently?", well..., the answer is "yes".
Some people venture into things without fully thinking about what it entails or because " other people" are doing it, so, there's a high tendency that you didn't settle down to think about what you're currently doing, there's a possibility that you don't even have passion for what you're doing, people also excel because they love doing what they do, so, they put in their all towards it.
Decide on the kind of mindset you want to have, is it a winners mindset, the stop halfway kind,or the quitters.
This means before you thread on this pathway to success, there has to be an intentional discussion with yourself, with your mind fully and willingly made-up that you're ready for the work. There has to be an awareness of your mind, full not partial concerning what you're currently doing.
This is the basic but most important aspect, your mind has to be made up.
Consistency:
You know the thing with being regular, it almost never shows you the impact of your efforts in the beginning, it could make you feel like you're wasting your time, like there's no point, but this is the most crucial point, where motivation is no longer sufficient, you now need to back it up with momentum, this is the preparation stage, where opportunity is looking at you from a corner.
Permit me to tell you that I'm also currently at this stage, but I keep pressing, because everyday I picture my victory in my head.
Consistency is showing up for yourself even on the worst days, even when you feel like it's worthless, compel your mind and your body to obey.
Patience
Oh, I had to finally learn patience, thank goodness it wasn't the hard way, I thought I could always beat everything through my impatience, guess, it didn't fully work like that.
You need patience to be consistent, picturing your win and victory days in your head.
This is one secret of the athletes, they picture the finish line in their head, that's why they press and keep pushing till they finish the race.
Prayer
You need God to excel, we are taught by the word of God, that " we can do all things, emphasis on"all things ' through Christ who strengthens us ".
You need to take every point personal, starting from the first to the last, and work towards it, if indeed you desire to be successful.
I'll not also overlook the fact that they're many people who have and are still putting in the efforts, but still, no opportunities, no luck, has crossed their path.
I encourage you to keep it up.
Also, try modification in the things you do, don't follow the "everyone mentality", try to implement a unique approach to what you do, people are attracted to things that stand-out, don't be deceived by the this is how it's been done mentality, and don't be surprised to find out that this may be the missing puzzle piece you've been searching for.
In the end, the journey to being successful boils down to one thing.
" keeping up to the decision you've made", this implies that you must first have a decision, a choice you've willingly owned up to, a choice to be punctual to work, a choice to study your books daily, a choice to be deligent in your daily activities. Followed by being faithful and consistent to that choice even on days when you feel it's unnecessary.
Mind you!!, Success is a lifestyle, so also,is failure, which is your mind programmed for?, which have you planned to live?.
